Altervision 3D

Even the best pictures or videos can’t prepare you for the amazement you will feel once inside A3D. Put on the glasses and enter our installation and you will immediately realize just how magical a place this is.
With butterflies fluttering out from an enchanted forest, dragons dueling, the clown’s mouth through which you just walked, the tracks on the floor that seem to float in midair, the word that comes to mind is WOW! Once inside, you are immersed with childlike amazement, in this fluorescent painted black light utopia. You find yourself reaching out to touch things that appear to be within reach as you experience the three dimensional art all around you – on the walls, the floor and the ceiling. Eventually, you exit through the stargate as you leave this vibrant world behind.

The A3D installation is the perfect addition to any special event looking for a unique, interactive experience for its guests. It appeals to both young and old, alike. Corporate events, VIP areas, music/art festivals, weddings and more, are the perfect settings for A3D to transform an event into an unforgettable experience. A3D can be set up indoors or outdoors and has a footprint of approximately 25’ x 25’. The size and artwork can be customized to meet your needs. All that’s required is a electrical source, the space for the installation and of course your guests, for us to add the magic of A3D to your special event.

Windows to Sky

Joseph of Windows to Sky has been writing songs since waaaay before it was cool.

You may remember us from hosting the Windows to Sky Lounge upstairs at BIL 2013.  We served free pastries and tea and a full day of musicians and performers, and it was a delight.

The band's ever-evolving membership has performed at parties, clubs, coffeehouses, restaurants, midnight movie screenings, nudist colonies, respected venues such as Molly Malone's and M Bar Hollywood, and special events including The New House Variety Nights, LA Burning Man Decompression, Wig Out! at Bordello, Carnival Noir, Cayamo: A Journey Through Song, Solvang FaerieFest, The Labyrinth of Jareth Masquerade, and Downtown Disney on Hallowe'en.

Creative influences include Simon and Garfunkel, Gogol Bordello, Pink Floyd, Suzanne Vega, Steeleye Span, Iron and Wine, They Might Be Giants, David Bowie, Joni Mitchell, Glen Hansard, Violent Femmes, "Weird Al" Yankovic, and a mouldering stack of old 78s and reel-to-reel tapes from childhood garage sales.

The Everexpanding Mind Machine

Mark Nichols & THE EVEREXPANDING MIND MACHINE (robotic band and stage.)

This battery operated concept powers the robotic solenoid-driven drums and a bass come through an old fashioned amp via a real track, the same with an electric guitar. Piano and organ go through a homemade spinning speaker. Sometimes the vocals magically appear through an authentic old-fashioned gramophone speaker straight out of the 20's. Automated LEDs revolve light around the stage and all of this is interfaced with a rear-projected movie sequence. It's a spectacle.

Mark Nichols is a composer who also does animation. He's combined these two elements into a sort of metaphorical arc, stuffed with songs from every show he's ever written. His presentation varies from straight ahead rock to more theatrical storylines about losing your memory or how songs are as real and as solid as the Pyramids. His set is acoustic, electric, robotic and just plain fun on an artistic level. There's a ton of great songs here in one place with a good amount of dynamic storytelling. The audience is encouraged to participate and some stories come from the audience as well. However this is not just a spectator sport, Mr Nichols voice can be both compelling and poyniant and his entire show will transfix even the most stoic of hearts.

Ancient Lasers is the musical work of Daniel Finfer, a Los Angeles-based multi-instrumentalist and vocalist.

Artists love to say their music has a message, but what happens when that message is “the Singularity is Near”?

Musician Daniel Finfer creates albums that explore the concepts and consequences of accelerating technology

while still possessing enough pop-music chops to make them accessible.

Daniel Finfer’s inspiration for blending accelerating technologies with music may sound familiar to many of you.

Five years ago, he was struck by how few pop songs really had a meaningful message, and at the same time he

was reading Ray Kurzweil’s The Singularity is Near. Finfer got the idea for creating songs that explored the themes

of the Singularity under the guise of pop music. While his lyrics may sound like they are a stereotypical exploration

of love, romance, and youthful bravado, they are actually “a conversation between my future and present selves,

I’m sort of talking back and forth through time.”

It’s insightful ideas like that which makes Finfer’s approach to music so interesting to follow, whether or

not his songs are actually to your taste. Another part of Finfer’s burgeoning career that excites me is the

creative story-based approach he takes with his projects. I find little narrative conceits like this really cool.

It makes me wonder if more of the music in the years ahead will focus on telling stories across different media.

iPunx

The history of iPunx

Since 2005, iPunx has been one of Europe's great mashup pioneers. After touring massively in and around Germany, he's landed with a mashed-up crash here in Venice, CA.

In the initial 3 smash EP's and seamless mashup album "Destroying Dancefloor", IPunx showcased an eclectic mix of house, rock, hiphop, punk and electro, ending up in many DJ charts around the world, including BBC Pete Tong's Buzz charts (#3). Initially a duo, and in spite of years of successful touring, the two members of iPunx parted ways in the late 2000's to pursue individual careers.

After relocating to LA, a now solo iPunx resurrected the project in 2013. A music producer and composer during the day, it was time to play with the unorthodox mix/mashes he truly loves. "Anybody can DJ hits. I wanna play obscure stuff that is entertaining as well. I love the surprise element". The excitement is infectious! In West LA, iPunx fan base is growing fast.

iPunx sound ranges from chill sunrise sets with little known acoustic covers to party sets with funky mashups and remixes that combine electro, hip-hop, dub step, rock, pop, soul, folk, funk and party breaks. His credo: "Never originals. Always fun." What's the crowd's reaction? " Usually, WTF is that?" And then their hips are shaking and they're singing along with giant smiles plastered on their faces.

iPunx has played crazy fun parties in 2013 in Joshua Tree, Baja, CA and with Boogaloo and Dirty Beetles at Burning Man. Check this site for upcoming performances and new releases.
