BIL 2011 - Attendees

Page history last edited by Simone Syed 12 years, 4 months ago

The best part about conferences?  Meeting People!

Remember, YOU ARE BIL (please note, this is a partial list of attendees, check Speakers and Organizers for more bios).

There are a lot of people coming that haven't signed up here, so if it looks a little thin, never fear.

TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF:

  • Add your name and bio below the last one.
  • BIL organizers will sort these from time to time.
  • Follow the examples set.
  • Photos are 100 MAX (which ever is the bigger)
  • It is better to use a "real" photo of yourself over a "staged" one.
  • If you need help with layout or design, or even pbwiki, shoot an email to reichart/gmail 310 THINKER (we want you happy)

Thank you for participating.

Matt Knopp hails from Austin, Texas and is a Generalist at Yammer, and loves it! He is passionate about technology, personal development and hurdling himself down a mountain at fantastic speeds with both feet strapped to a waxed board.  And a helmet.  Gotta protect the braaaaaiiinnnss.  This will be his 3rd BIL conference.  He has been a participant-volunteer in 2008, 2009, and now, this year.  Ask him about: [How many times he's moved to San Francisco and why? What he likes about his job, and if they are hiring. The most awesome wedding evar. Or, Cars.]  Tell him about - Your experience with leading, inspiring and motivating people.  What your favorite restaurants are in San Francisco.  How much you love using Yammer!  Belle Black, BIL newbie, current Long Beach local (so she may be able to give you directions. May.)  Though usually deep in a cave, Belle emerges periodically to rustle the natives and see what's new. At such times you can locate her in a crowded room by holding a microphone in the air; it will pull her from the throng like iron filings to a magnet. Her professional experience has been both broad and odd. Amid collecting some degrees (3--which is 2.5 too many), she has worked as a paper girl, nanny, clothing seller, chiropractor’s assistant, mistletoe bagger, pizza maker, hotel tea mistress, art gallery grunt, piano teacher, singer, dancer, choreographer, Sandhill Crane researcher (in full crane disguise), computer lab operator, translator, taxidermist assistant, science museum guide, blueprint file clerk, business developer, trainer, editor, human resources director, ballet corps stage lighting assistant, public relations lead, graphic designer, project manager, learning strategist, therapist, film festival executive producer, writer, story doctor, psychology/learning theory/film theory/writing/screenwriting professor, and she would like to add poet and political cartoonist, but was not actually paid for those last two, so is not sure it counts.  Having written all that down, she realizes that she is more interesting on paper than in real life, though no less capricious (aka erratic).

Alexandros Pagidas is a philosopher and entrepreneur living as a philosopher-in-residence at Black Box Mansion startup accelerator in Silicon Valley. His last BIL talk Creating the University of the Future at BIL 2009 was voted among the top 10 talks of the event. He blogs here and works at his startup, Patent Safari.

A newbie to BIL - Sentil Prakash Chinnachamy, the geo-sapien, belongs to a niche group of individuals that deal with ‘all things geo’ everyday. He is a GIS architect and designs GIS systems for several industries such as health care, transportation, local governments, energy and utilities. He blogs here. His openness for global cultures has pulled him into systems thinking and lately, he believes that the future ecosystems evolve by interaction of social media, geo-spatial awareness, and environmental consciousness. On his quest for green living, he currently works in renewable energy sector. He is passionate about social media, geospatial technologies, and Volunteered Geographic Information (VGI) - social media maps / VGI applicationsAlso, he volunteers like crazy for a local animal shelter, CrisisMappers, and numerous other community activities.

Paul Bohm is a pretty cool guy. He lives in San Francisco and works on building technology that leverages social behavior to organize knowledge. His life's biggest passion is information filtering and he'll give you an idea of why it matters and how it's done in a talk on Sunday.
